Hey guys. I will be buying the 2600x and I will pair it with a gtx 1070 and I was wondering if I should overclock it. Take in account that I have never overclocked anything before and I don't know anything about this stuff, so a little help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you get a B450 or X470 motherboard, there are features called Precision Boost 2 and XFR2 that basically overclock the chip for you. Overclocking really isn't that hard and there are lots of guides out there so you might still consider it (you may even enjoy it and find it interesting), but don't feel that you are required to in order to get good performance.

Ok thank you man. Can you also tell me where should I go to open the xmp profile of the rams so as to run them on 3000/3200mhz? And also I have heard that if you overclock a part its longevity is reduced. Can you confirm that? Thanks for the help.

If you're doing only moderate overclocking and keep the CPU at a reasonable temperature there should be no meaningful impact to longevity. The CPU itself will almost certainly become obsolete before it fails.

You enable the XMP profile (AKA "DOCP" for AMD systems) in the BIOS.
