Hey guys
I need some advise on upgrading on the old x58 platform.
i Have 6gb Gskill trident running at 1800mhz, im having trouble finding a good option to replace these due to not much compatability info being around.
i would like to stick to gskill and was wondering if any ddr3 kit will work with my platform as long as i stick to the motherboard GA-X58A-UD5 ratings and slot population guidelines ?

You can look through Ebay. There should be some cheap DDR3 triple channel kits available but G.Skill don't have any listed on their site under triple channel. You could get three single sticks of DDR3-1866MHz or a 3 dual channel kits from G.Skill. But I wouldn't suggest that you mix and match ram sticks. Make sure you've got the same stick in each slot.

On a side note, make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for the X58 board.

Thanks
i was looking at quad channel kits as i can either us three or all four of these and still have triple channel mode. My only problem is i cant really find ones that are on the memory support list from gigabyte.
I have been told almost any good brand memory eg corsair or gskill will be fine, as i can still find heaps of these quad channel kits available in 1600mhz 9-9-9-24, 9-9-9-27 or 1866 9-10-9-27 the later being my preference as i can still overclock these and adjust the timings if need be and its 16gb as opposed to 12gb although that wouldnt bother me.
Do you think i would be ok ?
