Ryzen 5 2600 OC question

Hello, I just recently upgraded my Ryzen 3 1200 (OC'd 3.8ghz 1.3v) to a Ryzen 5 2600. My mobo is an Asrock AB350 Pro4, Bios v5.00

I managed to get to 4.0ghz at 1.28175v. I am using a Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi cpu cooler

Here are my temps;

Is my overlock pretty decent? Or is there something else I can do to lower the temp, or get a higher frequency? I tried lowering voltage to 1.25 but screen keeps going black before it can finish running cinebench,

any advice would be helpful!
 
Solution
Considering that if lucky you may get another 100-150MHz and most probably need an aftermarket cooler, for all practical purposes you are good at those settings and results. Should have gotten 2600x and wouldn't need to OC.

Oh I see, Is there any risk when going past 70c? I don't want to like reduce the lifespan of my cpu. Do you think I can hit 4.2ghz?
 
Actually, temps wise, you should use HW Info temperature at "CPU (tdie)", it's actual core temperature. Ryzen has 2 sensors of which one is 10c higher (10c temperature offset). Above reading gives you right one. Higher one is used for inside processes to regulate XFR safely. Lower one is what your cooler has to soak up and cool it.
Even at 75c or thereabout it's expected to start throttling only and at 90c should shut down.

I see, thanks for the info. I am currently using a Cryorig h7 quad lumi. also, is it normal to get temp spikes? when idle I get 35-40c but it would randomly jump to 50-55c for like a second and then go back to normal
 


Is that true for the 2600? I thought the 10degree 'offset' was only true for the 'X' chips, at least it is for my 1700 where HWInfo64 shows a TDie and a TCTRL that is the same value.

 


Hard to reconcile that with what I've read in several other places. What comes to mind is that Sir Walter Scott quote:

Yeah, I get that: you've a lot of experience with multiple Ryzen processors. But then Hilbert Hagadoorn, over at Guru3d says this:

"To keep a "consistent fan policy," AMD is forcing 10C offset on only the Ryzen 2700X processors........."

That just leaves me confused by what you've just said.

Hence: when AMD started this little 'deception' in reporting, and then changed it in mid stream, it's tangled the truth to the point I'm wondering if there's now any consensus on what's 'most correct' core temp for any Ryzen processor.
 


That statement is what I've been talking about, essentially all along. Made back to the OP with a 2600 processor it states there is a 10c offset for all Ryzen but I don't believe that is true for 2600. Or for my 1700, for that matter, since in HWInfo64 the TDie and TCtrl readouts are the exact same, on the exact same line, since there is no offset to be compensated. I would imagine that same thing exists in HWinfo64 report tables for 2600's... but that's a guess.
