I'm leaning towards the Asus, but I don't know which one I should get. It's cheaper, but I'm not 100% sure it's better.

Solution

gsync and freesync are technology built into monitors that sync the GPU with it. gsync is specific to nVidia, with expensive monitors and freesync is for AMD cards and the monitors are much cheaper as there is no special hardware. If you are running a standard monitor, then you can ignore all this.(If the monitor description doesn't specify gsync or freesync, then it's a standard monitor.)

You have 16gb RAM, the other poster was referring to VRAM (I assume). They are separate and independent...
Those cards trade wins depending on the game, but the 580 tends to beat the 1060 and averages to be of higher performance. Honestly, with as close as they are in performance, I'd get whichever was cheaper and in this case, the ASUS.

Note: ASUS and Sapphire are known to be the highest quality AMD cards and tend to have the best customer service should you need it.

I don't know the meaning or difference between g-sync or freesync.

You will be happy with either card, the 580 has a small performance advantage and in this case, price advantage.
