Ryzen 2600x super high temp

My 2600x idle runs around 29c to 40c. the temp will go from 39c and slowly drop to 29c and then jump 10c in an instant. While gaming in fortnite cpu usage is 30 % and the temp is 65c average. NOW heres where i get scared, while running prime 95 or aida64 i get temps of 95C constantly. i have a 212 evo and im scared that somthing is wrong, i even replaced the thermal paste to make sure and same thing. This is the thermal limit fir this cpu, please help me.

Why are you running those programs in the first place ? If everything's working fine in normal usage, no need to overload it to such extent. Those are programs for troubleshooting but you don't seem to have any problems.

Yes but why does the temp go to max? Other people using these programs don't go further than 70 or 80c on air coolers. It doesn't make sense. And also the constant going from 39c dropping to 29c than instantly jumping 10c at complete idle is odd.

Are they also pushing the limits of their cpus with a crap 212 evo? It's worse than the cooler that should've come with the 2600x. Why'd you switch?
That is an entry level budget cooler not intended for high overclocks nor stress testing programs.

EDIT: Nevermind. I was sure the 2600x came with the Wraith Max. Instead, it's the Spire, which makes little sense on the x model.

Lots depends on MB, some like to push voltage too high under load, heat follows of course. I caught my going over 1.5v at ties.

Go into BIOS and set CPU fan profile to performance. I had that "crap" 212 on my 2600x and it never got that warm. Also make sure you have plenty of airflow throughout the case.

I have to ask if you properly installed the backer plate and standoffs for the evo 212?

It is installed properly. Right against the cpu. I have not touched any of the settings in the bios everything is stock. The cooler in the box is a lot smaller than the 212 evo so i dont know how it would be better. I have plenty of air flow with 2 140mm intake and 1 120mm exhaust. I also had the 1600x which never reached these temps, I think that one maxed 70c In prime 95. But these temps I'm getting are insane and worrying. Not sure why this is happening. Bad temp sensor idk.

I wouldn’t trust anything to accurately measure AMD temps except Ryzen Master.

Ryzen master says the same thing. Is it the cooler or cpu is defective?

Check task manager. A computer that's idling shouldn't have temps bouncing around. There must be something running in the background.

I also agree with CountMike. If you haven't tinkered with voltage settings at all, and things do get rather toasty under load, that's due to board makers default voltage settings in the bios - they tend to add more than is necessary. I'd give core voltage offset mode(-) a try. Small bumps of -0.005/-0.010, test each time, and see how far you get, before it becomes unstable.

There is nothing in task manager the causes the temp boost, like it slowly declines 10c and jumps 10c. my motherboard is the asrock master sli. the idle voltages jump between 3.8 and 4.2. im not sure if mayne my cpu is defective because i should not max out at 95c in prime 95.
