Hi i am planning on watercooling but not completly sure yet if i should go custom or aio (EK Mlc Phoenix)

Seems to fit better for your current uses. A second radiator could be added at a future point if need. If I recall, GPU boost starts dropping off after about 57C. If you can keep temps lower than this, you can likely keep 2000Mhz sustained on GPU speed. Outside of this, besides layout plans, the parts listed should work. G 1/4 is the standard for most fittings.

Regarding fittings, I see an issue, and likely unnecessary addon. The tubing fittings selected for tubing ends are for soft tubing, not rigid PETG as you have selected. Also, I never had a need for "filter fitting". If anything, I think they would impede coolant flow and clog things up themselves if certain premixed coolants are used.
I'm guessing you've read the watercooling sticky guides on here. Are you OK with all the risks and maintenance involved? If so, I'd generally always recommend custom vs. AIO for qualily, looks, and performance reasons. Do you have a planned layout for the build, at least tubing and fitting locations. I'm asking as these smaller component costs can add up quickly. What are you using for radiators and fans?

Hi here is my first try on a Build plan.not sure about the number of fittings yet and where to use bends instead. Fans would be the ones i have left, either use the 200 mm nzxt ones that are on there now up top or fit the corsair ones i got in the lower department right now, these are 3x120. As a Rad i was thinking about EKWB PE 360 Radiator 3x120mm.
Realistically aio would be def a good bit cheaper. but with using the still very good quality barrow parts i can reduce the whole custom build quite a bit.

wouldnt that be a bit of a waste of money? 1 360 should be able to cool both well enough no? even the aio from ekwb can do it pretty easily. i could just add one later if i wanted. did u check the pictures, the loop should work like this no?
 
If you were cooling GPU or CPU only, a single 360 would be a good choice in custom for low temps/noise. However, with both, especially a 1080 Ti, your temps won't be the best plus the additional fan noise. You can do it, but losing some of the benefits of full custom. Do you overclock at all? This can have an impact as well.

I do not plan on overclocking the 4790k too much, since it doesnt offer much benefit for gaming on my resolution atleast (3440x1440). maybe put it on 4.6. The gpu runs automatically on 1970 mhz i would like to try to get it to 2050 or 2100 stable (ram ocs stable +400 with better cooling probably +600, 600 was usually stable when the gpu wasnt on 76+ degree). on air the max stable oc i got was about 2030. maybe i would oc more when i change the mainboard and cpu but then i could still add another rad i think.
