I plan on upgrading my Ryzen 3 1200 system for an Ryzen 5.My B350 motherboard's BIOS is already updated to support Ravenridge CPUs.

Is it worth getting the Ryzen 5 1600? or should i just go for the 2nd gen Ryzen 5 2600?

The good one on Ryzen 2nd gen is StoreMI and XFR 2. It really boost up your CPU Until the limit of your CPU, can you imagine I have 2200G with XFR 1 it can boost up to 3950Mhz with 1,35V with base clock on 3,7Ghz. I cant Imagine how's good XFR 2 is.
For me i will wait for 2500x and B450 coming.

That's a debatable answer. For some things that work more on IPC and not thread count, there'll not be all that much difference, even between the 1200 and 2600. Where there will be a significant difference is in the multiple thread stuff, using 6-12 threads. That's where any backlog, prioritization or bottleneck the 1200 suffers from will be alleviated. Multitasking will be far smoother.
