Hello,

I'm rocking an LG 34UM58-P which supports 2560x1080. I have a DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) cable via HDMI adapter. The current screen on the LG monitor is 1920 x 1080 but it looks squeezed / distorted as its trying to fill the whole screen pixel by pixel. I'm trying to achieve the maximum benefit from the external display HD6750M stated by Apple:

Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors.

Is the problem the adapter? I've been told that the HDMI cable can only do 1920x1080, but I achieved this resolution on my LG monitor before and it automatically crops the screens' sides (in Windows 10 using a GTX 1080 ti) in black to make a FullHD image instead of the current squeezed FullHD image on the external display from the MBP. People looking chubby on youtube! =).

Ideally I'd go DisplayPort to DisplayPort connection but I don't have a monitor with a DisplayPort input nor in that resolution.

Any tips?

Solution
Without being there in person, I would do a restart, then choose the least resolution and go from there. Would adjust the settings on your display to get the best picture. What is the reason for needing greater resolution?
