I spilled water on my old desktop pc while it was off and unplugged, water didn't get on the mainboard but got on a few power cables that were out and all over the outside of the case. How screwed am I?

(Afraid to plug it in, PC is not a big deal, pentium from Windows XP era, but don't want to damage wiring in house.)

If this is in the wrong category feel free to move.

You should let it dry for a long time before starting it up. Maybe leave it in the sun for a day or two. You could also lightly rinse the components that got wet with 90% alcohol and then let it dry. You should be okay as long as there was no residual charge in any of the components when it got wet.

PC was off for ~1 month before this happened; been using it as a media streaming server using apache with a self-signed cert.
