I was going to chnge the motherboard on my ACER because it won't power on or charge. Best buy said it was the motherboard and they would fix it for $350.00. I thought I could do it myself. I've worked on a lot of desktops and know laptop are a lot harder, but figured I would try it anyway since it is just a doorstop now.

I need to find out what motherboard I need but since it won't power on, I can't check. How would I find out what motherboard it is so I could price it? Thanks.

Are you able to boot from a USB drive?

Or open the case and look for the motherboard's make, model, and version? Should be somewhere on the board.

Check the documentation that came with the laptop. Could be listed there.
