(So i'm forced to buy a new mouse. For years, I've been perfectly happy with a Bloody v7 model, but one of the side buttons sometimes doesn't respond unless pressed at a specific point. Still, it served well, and after checking the market, i think it would be best to just buy another Bloody model.)

What's important for me is for the mouse to be able to enter different modes - with a Bloody mouse, there are three buttons underneath the scroll to switch through the modes - such as clicking more times than i actually click, pushing the cursor down while holding a click, stuff like that. Are there any other >reliable< mouses under 35$ with similar functionalities?

Where are you located and what is your preferred site for purchase? Seems to me like you're more comfortable with A4Tech(the people who make Bloody peripherals) at your hands. Speaking of which what sort of brands do you have access to if you're not located in the USA...?

I have a Cougar 600M. 3 different modes, programmable thumb key, selectable d.p.i, macros, selectable RGB for the different modes, really a very good gaming mouse that works like a champ and'll do anything I ask of it short of what a MMORPG mouse can do with its 9 program able switches.

And yet it's not nearly as good as the ancient stock 2-button Microsoft mouse that came with every Dell pc in the 90's-00's. That had the perfect feel in my hand, left or right handed. Loved that mouse.

So if shopping for a new mouse, my only advice is get to stores that sell them and put your hands on them. No point in just picking a mouse because it looks cool or does many things, if you don't like the way it fits you.

Doesn't look all that bad, but it's a little too expensive - also, isn't it on the base of laser? From what I've seen, those are a bit over-accurate, the little tearing isn't quite what I'd prefer. Thanks for the advice, though, it is much appreciated.

And about getting the feel myself.. That would naturally be the best solution, but in the stores they have 2 mice out if i'm lucky, so that wouldn't really satisfy my needs.

Yes, definitely not an enemy of A4Tech in here.
I'm from central Europe, so we've got A4tech, Acer, Asus, Connect it, Cougar, C-tech, Dell, E-blue, Genius, Logitech, Mad catz (which look good, but are expensive), Razer, Yenkee.. Those are roughly the better known ones

In Cougars defense, the d.p.i is programmable. I have mode 1 set for 400, 1000, 3000 and 10k. Normally I'll run 3000 for everything, makes life easy not having to wide swing the mouse everywhere, especially on mmoprg's, it's just a simple flick of the wrist. In cs:go I've got the thumb switch set to drop me into sniper, and with the push of the switch behind the wheel, I drop into 10k d.p.i. I don't miss headshots at long range, ever. In mode 2, the 10k is dropped to 6k which works great in some of my other games and the thumb switch is keyed for other things.

Oh, and I don't use any sort of mouse pad. I run the mouse directly on the desktop. My wife's Roccat is optical and works much better on the hard pad she has, but I'm forever running off the edge with it, which gets annoying. So yes, there are tradeoffs with each design.

Yeah, i don't plan mousepad either for the same exact reason - and also because, well, I've never needed one.

And frankly, changing DPI isn't quite what I had in mind - as I stated, clicking (instead of holding), clicking (multiple times), or moving the cursor (while holding) is what this is about.
