Overclocking 8th gen on a cheap Z370

So I just recently bought Gigabyte Z370m DS3H hoping to overclock my i5-8600k but recently I have been reading that it is dangerous to overclock using motherboard with no heat sinks and only a few power phases.

My question is, can I still overclock this even just by a modest amount not really going for insane numbers, given I have a really nice CPU cooler? If not then what's the point of a cheap Z motherboard?

Solution
A few power phases is only going to hinder you getting the best overclocks. Since your motherboard doesn't have any cooling you should use a cooler that blows air down and cools the vrm. If you won't provide enough cooling to the vrm the lifespan of the motherboard may be drastically decreased.
