Hi, This is my first time posting anything on a forum as I have tried to do everything by my self but this time I need some help. I Built my Pc in 2016 and have upgraded my GPU to a Gtx 1060 6G but have now found my Machine has had some serious bottlenecking and want to buy a new CPU.

My Motherboard as of now is a 970A-G43-PLUS and my current CPU is an AMD FX-6300

What would be the best CPU For my motherboard and GPU

An FX 8xxx series BUT I would not recommend that. First, because your 6300 already gets you most of the game performance you'd get from an 8xxx series. Second, because you'd likely still be bottlenecked in games where it matters.

To answer you question in detail, an FX 8350 or 8370 would be the top dogs for that motherboard.

The problem is the FX series weren't that fast when new, and that was a long time ago. You'd need a Ryzen or Intel i5 to really get your use out of a 1060.

Actually given the poor power and thermal design of that motherboard a 125w cpu like the 8350 and 8370 would likely be problematic(VRM throttling). A 95w 8320e or 8370e would be the best I'd use on that board.

I do agree though that the best option is a full platform upgrade(cpu, motherboard and ram).
