I have an old Kingston 120GB SSD that used to house my windows before it went completely dead from a quick power outage i had in my house. I had to buy a new ssd and reinstall windows on that ssd again. I could never figure out how to fix my old ssd or recover anything from it but now i have a usb to sata adapter and the moment i plug it into my pc its completly slows everything down and sometimes even crashes my windows. I would love to know what exactly the problem is or if i should even bother messing with it anymore this is my first time messing with it in like a year and its still screwed up it seems, but i would like to recover data from it if i can.

Are you using Windows 10?
If so, try going to Settings / Devices / AutoPlay / select "Take no action" under Removable drive
or turn OFF "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices."

next go to file explorer and see if you can locate your SSD.
