Hi, I have a friend who is selling some of his parts and I am able to snag them for a very reasonable price. My current rig is an fx 6300 and gtx 960 with 8 gb ram , the parts I’m looking at are an i7 2600k and a rx 480 devil 8 gb will I see better performance if I upgrade or is it only a small amount better? Thank you all in advance

That 2600k is old now. It won't work with Windows 10 & Windows 7 support won't last too long now. It uses ddr3-1333 so that's not the way forward. That rx480 is fab though. It would be a great investment, especially with a ryzen. Ryzen prices will drop more in future.

So does that mean the 2600K systems on my work network running Windows 10 are invalid? :??:

Absolutely false.

That 2600k was released in 2011.
I have a 2009 era Toshiba laptop with a 2.2GHz Celeron chip running Win 10 just fine.
Slow, but it was slow when it was new.

Don't forget that you will need a different motherboard when you switch from AMD to intel, even if you can use the same ram.

Thanks guys! I will go ahead and get the parts , and don’t worry it comes with Mobo and ram. And if you’re curious he’s selling the Mobo bundle to me for 50 and the rx 480 for 100.
