after i got my 144hz monitor my i5 7500 seems to be bottlenecking my gtx 1070

when im gaming with my new 144hz display i seem to get allot more stutters and framedrops than i used to could it be cus my cpu isint fast enough?

It's probably just a placebo. Or something is eating up your resources. Might also be a bad software update.

One thing is certain: upgrading your display DOES NOT affect your PC performance.
Your PC should run exactly the same on both displays. If there is a bottleneck, it is present on your old display as well.

Running games at 144fps puts lots of additional stress on the cpu compared to 60fps gaming. Therefore you might consider upgrading your cpu to a i7. It will definitely give you steadier frame times and higher fps while gaming.
 


unless running at ultra, 7500 should be able to run MOST games at 144 FPS.

please check drivers and run benchmark of your CPU.
look at temps, as 100+ fps will stress CPU hard, it might be thermal throttling.
if cpu hits 80+ it will stop turbo, which will lower it performance a lot.
