gosh. i need a little help. i have a gaming laptop with Nvdea 1060 with i7 7700hq processor. it went crazy hot during games so i changed the core voltage and all was perfect in the games. BUT during idle normal use DUE TO THE MAX PROCESSOR FREQUENCY which is around 3.38 even in idle use. makes the laptop go to 70-78 degrees. which is not good. any way to lower it down.? OTHER THAN battery saving power options. i mean any software to lower the max core frequency. thanks

If it idles at 70-78, it would blow my mind if it didn't throttle in games. What are your temps while gaming?

If you really want to limit it, just go into the advanced settings of whichever power option you have selected and lower the minimum processor state because it sounds like yours is at 100%. You could also lower the maximum processor state but that would affect gaming.
