Both will work but WD is NVME, much faster. Samsung is actually SATA.

In this instance, the NVMe drive is NOT "much faster".

From your motherboard:
"M.2 port supports M.2 PCIe module up to 10Gb/s speed"

A more current board would support that NVMe drive up to 32Gb/s.
Several times faster.

In this motherboard, the NVMe is barely faster than a SATA III m.2 drive, like the 860 you linked.

For a Z97 motherboard, NVMe drives are rarely the answer.
