I would go with the 2600. In most places it is the same price as the 8400 and 1600.

The Intel CPUs have a decent lead in gaming over the 1st gen Ryzen CPUs. But with the higher clocks of the 2xxx series Ryzen CPUs, that gap has narrowed to about a 5% difference. Which makes the 2600 really appealing because it has twice threads as the 8500.

So if you only two options are the 8500 and 1600. Then I would probably go with the 8500. But I would rather have the 2600 than either of them.

A 2600 would be ideal, you get higher base clock speeds and an RGB fan is included. It also has twice the threads than the 8500. If you're really on a budget then go with the 1600 in my opinion.

I would go with the ryzen 5 2600. Greater amount of threads. I currently have one in my system and I love it. Currently saving up for a 1080ti. Im very glad I chose ryzen over the i5 options. Also the stock cooler for r5 2600 is NOT RGB
