looking to buy a used SSD , here is the info
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB

SMART : Status OK
POH : 253d 13h
Power Cycle Count : 21
Capacity 232.89GB
Bytes Written : 2.050TB

I would be purchasing it for $50 CAD. I have never bought or researched on an SSD before and was wondering if this is an OK Drive to buy or will it die within the next year.

Well just going by that the drive should have a whole lot of life left in it. My 960 evo that I bought last year has already done 11TB of writes and I don't even do that much writing to the drive, most of that is just installing games to it. It's only been power cycled 21 times, I have SSD's with over 500 power cycles that still work fine. Also the 850 evo's are a pretty durable and reliable drive. I would have no issues buying that drive assuming the seller is trustworthy.

Why? I have no problem with used electronics personally. I just make sure whoever is selling it is unlikely to scam me and has some kind of return policy. If I am buying from ebay for example, I just make sure the seller has a good feedback rating and has been an ebay seller for a reasonable amount of time. Those three very simple steps will make it very unlikely for you to be scammed, on ebay anyway.

If you are buying from some random dude on craigslist, well that's a little more risky. You likely aren't going to be able to return it if it doesn't work.

Yeah I’ve been scammed on eBay before even doing your thing and it’s not fun so I only buy new stuff from Newegg and Amazon and places like that. For instance a crucial 250 gig is only $75 so why are you paying $50 for something used and that’s already had 2 TB written on it?

I don't see how thats possible. Care to share details? A long running business on ebay is not going to scam people, if they did they wouldn't have a business for very long. And ebay themselves will pay you back if someone was to straight up rip you off. I have spent thousand of dollars and eBay and have never been scammed once.

Ah!! well then, it's probably ok and worth it. Hope it works for you for a long long time. That's about 39 USD which should be about right.
