Cell phone wifi repeatedly cuts out

I’m not entirely sure how to explain this, but my mom and I have been having this problem for well over a year and frankly we are sick of it. What will happen is that we will be on the internet and after maybe a few minutes the wifi connection will just stop loading anything, we can wait minutes and it still won’t load anything. However, the instant that we disable the wifi connection on our phones, the page/video will load instantly. Sometimes on iPhone’s “Safari”, after we disable the wifi, it Yeah will say something along the lines of “Safari cannot display the webpage because the internet connection was lost”, but I have never seen it say that on anything outside of Safari. We are about the furthest thing from computer people, so maybe it is something obvious that we are doing wrong. Regardless, neither one of us have any clue as to how to fix it. Does this issue I’m describing sound like anything to anyone? Thank you in advance

Well I would assume the reason the page loads after disabling wifi is the phone automatically connected to the cell tower when wifi was turned off and started using your data to display the page. Assuming you have a cell service and a data plan for Verizon, AT&T or whoever.

As for why the wifi cuts out, it could be many things sorry to say. Are you getting a good signal? You can try standing near your router and see if it still cuts out with a full signal.

If it's something other than that I doubt I am going to be capable of walking you through diagnosing the problem. Any problems with other devices on the wifi? Laptops, tablets, etc?

Do you have any computers at home that have the same problem?

If a PC has the same problem with the wifi (in the same part of the house you are having troubles at with your phone) then it is the wifi.

If that is the case then it could be various reasons:
1) Router is dying/defective and needs replaced
2) Too many walls/obstacles for router to send signal through. Often times lazy ISP techs will install the modem/router in the bedroom closest to the where the cable/phone line enters the house, coincidentally this is usually the opposite end of the house from where the living room is.
3) Interference. If you live in an apartment building or other place where your neighbors are 25ft or less away then their wifi signal can interfer with yours.
Solution to this is to get a better router that has 5ghz band

Typically speaking, I am in my bedroom when on my phone, which is the room directly next to where the computer is. My PlayStation 4 is nowhere close to the computer or router but it works fine with the internet. It is only the phones that are the issue. My mom has an iPhone 5s and I have an iPhone 6s, and I feel like my phone is affected more by this, but she might just not know what the problem is, and she’s on the internet about 10% of the time that I am. I don’t have a laptop or anything like that though, so I’m not sure if it would work there or not.

I do have Verizon cell service and I would just use that, but I don’t have too much data on the plan and I could probably go through my monthly limit in less than a week without the wifi.

Also, I have noticed that on Google it will say that my detected location is in Allentown, Pennsylvania or somewhere in Virginia, but I live in West Virginia and the only other state I am even close to is Ohio. Could this location issue be related? I’m clutching at straws at this point, but I’m trying to give as much information as I can. Also, my internet provider is Suddenlink, and depending on the day they will say that they “see signal interruption” but then the next day they don’t. Very inconsistent and poor customer service too.

Currently we do not use the actual desktop computer often (it’s old and slow), but when I have used it for school projects or something it seems fine. The router we got last year and it was pretty expensive compared to our old one so I wouldn’t think it would be a router issue, but you never know. It’s possible it could be defective but it only seems to have issues on the cell phones and at least not with my gaming system.
