Would plugging a 6.3mm plug into a 3.5mm adapter plug impede the sound quality?

My headset has a 3.5mm jack and a 6.3mm jack. Would the sound quality be better if I just used the 3.5mm jack, or the 6.3mm jack which is plugged into a 3.5mm adapter?

Solution
bigger surface area means better connection but.. adapters add extra points of contact so using adapter is always worse than original connector.
so.. for computer usage, I would just use 3.5 to 3.5.

In theory, if distance from computer to your headset is quite long, like ten meters, then using thicker cable and 6.3mm connector on headset end and adapter to connect it to computer might get some benefit.

in short, it's about impedance, which affects sound volume, not really quality. dirty/bad connectors can affect sound quality though.
Edit: as can bad quality cabling, which becomes more apparent the longer they are but.. again, for desktop usage, not really an issue.

In my experience a bigger issue is what's at the other end - how good are your headphones or speakers? In most cases with computer audio I highly doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between the quality with and without the adaptor. The quality of whatever is outputting the sound is more likely to be an issue.
