Hi all,

I have a MSI GE72mvr gaming latop.
i7 7700hq
gtx 1070
16 gig ram
1 tb SSD
1 tb HDD.

During most games I play, I experience stuttering for about 1 second. It happens 5 times in about 30min and generally happens when things get intense...

I get the feeling that the laptop switches between the dedicated and intel GPU momentarly.
Ive read that the intel GPU can be uninstalled (windows will reinstall it) but seems a bit risky..

I have updated bios, drivers (nivida, windows etc)
The laptop is defintley not thermal throttling either and theres no OC!
Ive set the 1070 to be the prefered GPU.
Ive set power mode to max performance.

Everything ive read and tried doesnt work! Ive even contact MSI but they cant help me...

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

You can uninstall it. You can even update it. But I wouldn't recommend it. I do know of a case where it was uninstalled and updated to another Intel version. It didn't turn out well

With a laptop your troubleshooting options are limited. If the graphics card is removable, then it can be replaced. The battery and power brick are replaceable. And then the memory is replaceable. The CPU is probably integrated. The only one...
The Intel integrated graphics is disabled under normal operation of the laptop. You can change the graphics source in the BIOS. And you can check the status of the graphics in the Device Manager under display adapter.

I would recommend updating the graphics driver first. Download and install the graphics driver from http://www.geforce.com/drivers . Select custom install and the clean install option. Don't use the Windows drivers.

Also you can check the performance settings of the lap top. Increasing the performance may help.

Another possibility is too few system resources. Check the task manager for CPU% and Memory % usage. Also go to the the Start up menu. That will show all of the applications running in the background.

To clean those up, first go down the list and highlight applications with medium and high impact on startup. Then use the disable button at the bottom of the page. Then do the same for applications that you don't use every few days. This doesn't delete the application. It just stops them from running constantly.

Thanks terry4536, I have tried all of the above.

Yes the integrated GPU is disabled, but from what Im seeing it switches to it for a short period.

The CPU & Memory usage isn't a problem. Ive checked that.

I still wonder if I can uninstall my integrated GPU? or will this cause any additional problems?

The CPU is probably integrated. The only one of those that might help would be replacing the graphics card (if even possible).

A fresh install of the operating system might help, but it may not. You can update the BIOS, but I doubt that will help in this case. That is pretty much the gamet of things to try (other than replacing the laptop).

No this is not happening, switching to the iGPU would mean that your screen would become black for a sec and then it would display whatever is set to be displayed on it (typically it would show you the windows desktop)
