I am not building a PC but just wanted to know which of these two CPU's are good for gaming.

Ryzen R5 1400 or a i7 2600K, Both overclocked, paired with a GTX 1070. 1080p 75Hz.

Im just curios as I cannot find any benchmark videos with these two head to head that are legit on YouTube.

Solution
If I was building a PC today for medium/high budget I would probably go with the R5-2600 Ryzen CPU. It's a 6-core/12-thread CPU for roughly $165USD.

Ryzen should also have high bandwidth DDR4 (i.e. 2x8GB 3200MHz CL16 or similar... NOT 1x8GB 2400 for example).

But as said the i7-2600K should beat the R5-1400 if both are clocked to their max so assuming you had the i7-2600K now it would not make sense to go for the R5-1400.

It would also not make sense as said to build around an older system. Unless you got a supremely AMAZING deal on used parts you have the issue of Windows license and lack of Warranty should something fail like the motherboard or CPU.
