Is the newer generation of Intel CPUs worth it?

Is it worth it to spend a little bit extra to get a laptop with i5 8250U rather than i5 7200U. If so why is the newer generation of i5 so much better and worth the extra costs?

Solution
The 8250U is an 4 Core 8 Thread CPU with 3,4ghz
meanwhile the 7200u is an 2 core 4 thread 3,1 ghz cpu

depending on how much "little bit extra" means, it is definitly worth going for the 8250U!
You get double the Cores and Threads + 300mz with the same 15W power consumption

It's under a hundred dollar difference so it may just be better to go with the laptop with 8250U. Plus it is newer and will be up to date longer since i plan on keeping the laptop several years.

Yea i agree with that :)
I hope to see developer move in a direction where more cores does impact the perfomance of software (expecially games) more then just raw clock speed.
