CPU performing worse than it should

Hi everyone, i wish to play overwatch, but my computer isn’t the best (or the newest. I have an gtx 650 1gb, 5 gb ddr2, Asus Strike II Formula motherboard and a Intel Quad2Core Q9400 @2.66Ghz running at 3.1Ghz.

Except for the processor, my computer does reach the minimum requirements of the game and my GPU never reaches 100% usage since Overwatch is not very GPU reliant.

Before i downloaded the game (borrowed it from a friend) i went to check wether my cpu would hold it or not.

As you can see in the videos below, worse or equal(but not overclocked) CPUs can run the game quite well, but when i play the game, even with my overclocked quad, i get only around 30 fps, 40 with some luck, and a lot of spikes to 20 fps.

I play at 1440x900 resolution using Overwatch’s 16:9 option
Everything on low, render scale 100%

Below are the links i found:

This one specially: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_oD_Tpz3vyM

So, im sorry for the long text, but i really wish to play the game, as well as some other games. Thank you all.

Hello kanewolf, what do you mean by that? I got 2x2gb and 1x1gb = 5gb ddr2. You suggest i only use my 2x2gb ?

With my non oc'd q6600 in my backup system I get about 40fps on average but tend to drop to 10-20 fps often during teamfights. This is running with a hd 5870. I did get less drops after upping the ram from 4gb to 8gb but it was still at max 45 or so fps.

The odd ram config as mentioned by pedro can be an issue and I personally have run into issues with it before.
Still you are running on a 10 year old cpu and are below min spec in terms of cpu.

Sure it its an old pc, still you and many other people can play the game with slower cpus than mine, and mine is overclocked btw
