Hey all. I just finished putting together a plan for my new gaming PC that I'm going to be using for streaming and recording games for youtube. The only part missing so far is the monitor, and I wanted to ask about that here because I have no idea which monitor would properly capitalize on the parts I have. Thanks for any solutions!

My blueprint:

(also I'm not totally sure if the motherboard I have is the best one, so feel free to comment on that)

No problem, I would just to advise you to make sure your games support the 21:9 ratio (norm is 16:9), Google "<game> 21:9" and you'll find a video or screenshot. The only AAA game that I'm aware of that doesn't support it is Overwatch but Blizzard did that on purpose, there other games such as WoW and Diablo 3 support it.

That LG is Freesync and you have a GSync NVidia card. It would work, you just couldn't take advantage of Freesync.

I would look at a 1080p 144Hz GSync monitor. IPS if you can swing it. That's the ideal gaming monitor.

The only way to go Freesync would be to get an AMD card like a Radeon 580.

It is Freesync but it is about $300 cheaper then the Gsync version and Vsync works fine and 75hz is pretty smooth.

I've had both the 16:9 144hz monitor and the 21:9 75hz IPS and I prefer the latter between them. IPS colors are so much better and having the extra peripheral is nice to have on shooters and games like Fortnite. It really comes down to the games the OP plays and unless there huge into competitive FPS I'm always going for 21:9.

With a large enough budget you could go 2560x1080P/144hz which goes around $500 (freesync), the Gsync version is about $800.

Here's the same build swapping for a Radeon RX580 which is basically the same as a 1060 performance wise. Throw in the same LG monitor but upped to 144Hz, maintaining the IPS and Freesync and widescreen. Nice little system. Basically an extra $400 with the monitor after you account for the savings with the video card.
