I was just wondering if I were to lower my fps cap in games if that would help my CPU run a bit cooler?
Would lowering my fps in games help with CPU temps

As far as parts I have a GTX 1080ti, a Intel i7 7700 a 750w power supply, 2 8 gig ddr4 ram sticlsand a z270h strix mother board. Hot would be 77- 80 celcius sorry for forgetting this would be a parts impacted question

If you are using the stock cooler and maybe have a bad airflow in your case, then those temps are somewhat fine as long as they don't go higher. Max safe temp for that CPU is 100C at which point the CPU will start to throttle itself down.

What is your temperature at idle?
If you are using the stock cooler and it is mounted well, I would expect to see 10-15c. over ambient.
What is your case and what do you have for front intake fans?
Any cooler needs to have a good supply of fresh air to do it's job.
77-80c. under load is really not bothersome.

70-80C would be quite typical for the somewhat smallish Intel-provided cooler under a gaming load....
As long as no throttling/near throttle conditions, I'd just live with it...(a better cooler could knock 10-13C off of the temps, but,....just a number)
