[Moderator note: Moved post to Graphics Cards.]

I’m building my first pc and almost have all the parts except for the graphics card and processor. I’m going to get the i7 8700k processor with benchmarks but I can’t decide if I want to go with the 1060 or 1070 the 1060 would save me $200 which would be great but if there a lot more performance for the 1070 I’ve go for it. Which one should I get

What resolution and frame rate are you looking for? Assuming you're only using 1080p 60Hz, then the 1060 will be just fine, for anything more, then get the 1070.

The other thing is, the i7-8700k should be fine for many years before it feels dated and needs updating. Where as in recent times graphic cards seem to get old and outdated in only a few years, so plan of replacing the GPU long before you replace the CPU. I guess by that argument, a case could be made to get the 1070 over the 1060, but even it will get dated.
