Hi guys, Most cases nowadays have 2.5 mounts (in some cases's spec written as SSD drive bays).

My question is: are those 2.5 mounts only supports SSDs or can also supports those HDDs that have 2.5 form factor like those HDDs used in laptops ?? actually i wanna exploit some 2.5 mounts for normal HDDs + an SSD.

I just got confused because in some cases's spec, they are written as SSD drive bays, i thought they are limited only for SSDs, but thanks for clarification. :)

Yes that's an annoying change they've made in marketing material over the last year or two. I think the idea at this point is if you are getting a 2.5" drive why not get an SSD. While if you want big storage it makes more sense to go 3.5" and get a giant 8-12 Tb HDD.

Thanks for letting me know this, actually i'm asking that question because going to buy a PC case that has 2 mounts 3.5 and 5 mounts for 2.5, I just asked myself, if i run out of 3.5 mounts, what to do to get an additional storage? so i just thought to exploit the 2.5 mounts for normal HDDs :D :D

I will use them for just storage only, but to be honest those 2.5 HDDs are still available with higher speeds 7200 RPM like the 3.5 ones. Most laptops uses 5400 RPM HDDs for power saving. that's why they're usually slow.
