Crucial MX500 250GB M.2 OR WD Blue 250GB M.2

I need a few new SSD's. One for my four year old Lenovo laptop, and another for my Dell Micro PC. I don't plan to purchase anymore 2.5" form factor drives, so I'm going with M.2; I have an adapter. My main considerations are reliability first and performance second. Thank you.

Addendum question:

I noticed that Crucial has a firmware updating utility called Storage Executive, but where is Western Digital's utility? The one I found on their site only applies to hard drives.

Solution
I have 2 laptops with the MX500 M.2 drives and they work great. not sure about speeds etc.. but boot is great.. opening stuff is great. I don't have any access to the WD ones or I would do some real tests. but yea I would just go with what ever brand you like better.. (the manufacture specs are similar.. other then the mx500 has a little on paper faster on some things and has also on paper 1.8 MTBF vs 1.75 so it should according to them last longer.

envy14tpe / Doctor Rob I thank you both for your counsel. I opted for a new choice: Intel 660p 512GB. It's a recent QLC NVMe SSD, that's set at the same price point as high-end SATA SSDs:
