Hello all, i have recently been given a Dell insprion pc and would like to upgrade it and venture into pc gaming, not after the fastest just somthing good enough to play aaa titles. Currently it's running,

Windows 10
Intel i5 8400 2.8ghz cpu
1tb hard drive
8g ddr4 ram
Gt 1030 gpu
290w power supply

My plan is to add a ssd for windows, should plug into second sata plug?

Ether a gtx 1060 6gb or if i can a gtx 1070 ti, should replace the gt1030 but requires power?

And a new power supply thinking a 600w, I know the graphics cards need 6 pin pci but am a little lost with the other plugs and there name. The current power supply to motherboard has a 4 pin plug for the cpu and another 8 pin plug for i believe the motherboard. Are these generic plugs?

Thanks

on ssd and hard drives now. sata ports you dont have to watch what device goes in what numbers sata port. if your mb has 6 ports any of the six can be used. what you want to do is find from dell if there a restore program on the old hard drive. if there is how to make a copy of it. the factory image will have all of the vendor drivers and software on it. if you dont want the image you can use windows media creation tool to make a clean windows 10 boot iso. on the video card wait two weeks for the newer nvidia gpu to drop. for the price of a 1060 the 1160 is going ot be faster for about the same price.

I think the GTX 1060 would be a nice match considering the CPU clock speed. Power supply definitely needs to be replaced. 500W PSU from Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA will do the trick. SSD is nearly a must have.
