If you mean the time it takes to boot from when you power it on that is not related to network.

If you mean web pages load slow that could be a network issue but its hard to say if the problem is the wifi card or the router. Both are using older technology. Upgrading just the router may not help and replacing a wifi nic card in some laptop can be a challenge both from physically doing it and finding cards that are compatible.

I would try the laptop on a ethernet connected cable first. It is the cheapest thing to try and will quickly show if you have a wifi issue or not.

Replacing the router will not by itself solve your problem if the issue is over utilization of the wifi. What you would have to attempt to do is buy a...

Are all other devices working at "speed" with only the Samsung NP300E5C being slow?

Could be that the laptop is the root issue slowing the network.

May be trying to update old software, do backups to a non-existent network drive....

If the network performance for all other devices is as expected without the laptop being on and connected then the laptop is likely the source of the problems.

Overall, your "household" (congratulations) should be well served by the present hardware barring some misconfiguration issue or hardware fault.

It may take you some time and effort but on the Samsung, open Task Manager and look around. Do not change anything.

Likewise run Resource Monitor and look around.

Both tools can be accessed by typing their respective names into the "Type here to search" box.

What you are looking for is some software application that is running and using the greater part of one resource or another.

And Windows 10 does have built-in troubleshooters. Run the troubleshooters on the Samsung. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Key is to narrow down the source of the problem.

Replacing the router will not by itself solve your problem if the issue is over utilization of the wifi. What you would have to attempt to do is buy a dual band router and then move devices that support the 5g radios to that other connection. It all depends on what devices are using a lot of bandwidth and which support the 2.4g band and which support the 5g band.

If possible hook as much as you can to the router with ethernet cables this reduces the competition for the wifi.
