Does the GA-H61M-S2-B3 work with ssds?

During the ebay 15% off everything over $25, I was going to buy an ssd for my computer but I noticed a message on the bootup of my computer. The message is an initialization of AHCI, but I noticed it said Hard Drive and CDROM supported only (this message has been there since I enabled ahci, but I just read it that day). I decided not to buy an ssd because of this message. I looked at updating my bios, but it looks like the revision I'm on is the only one that works with my cpu (i5-2400) (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H61M-S2-B3-rev-10#support-cpu). I figure that motherboards from 20 years ago support ssds, so mine should too. I could use it with a PCIe 1x to 2 sata ports to make it a nonboot device, but I did want the ssd as the boot device.

Also, if you want to, you can recommend me a 120gb ssd for around $30 to $40.
