Can I install NH-D15 Noctua Cooler on my PC ?

Hi all

I have a 4-5 years old PC and the CPU fan started to make annoying noises... I tried to clean dust but it didn't help.

I decided that I want to replace it with a new one, and because quiet and quality is VERY important to me (and money is not a problem here) I think that the NH-D15 Noctua Cooler is what I really want!

The question is, will it fit to my PC ?

This is what I have:

1. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3.

2. CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 / 1150 Tray.

3. Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Black.

What do you say, does my PC have enough space inside for such a large cooler?

Does it fit to my Motherboard and to my CPU ?

I really hope so, please advice,
Thanks!

Solution
CPU coolers up to 170mm tall (when no fan is installed in the side panel) is what http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/define-series/define-r4-black-pearl tells me. That is what the case can accommodate.

Noctua says Height (with fan) 165 mm.

That means your case can accept that cooler.

You have a Haswell socket 1150 motherboard, like I do, and Noctua says

Socket compatibility Intel LGA2066, LGA2011-0 & LGA2011-3 (Square ILM), LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA1151, LGA1150 & AMD AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2, FM2+ (backplate required), AM4 with NM-AM4

1150 is included in that list which means it's compatible with your board and CPU.

In short, there is a 100% possibility that the D15 will fit in your case.
