Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening guys. I need help with some PC issues. I'm considering to buy a new HDD for my desktop and was wondering if I could use my old HDD as an extra hard disk without reformatting it leaving the OS and everything it contains while installing a new OS on the new HDD. I'll use the new HDD as first boot and I was wondering if there would be any problems by having 2 operating systems installed on both HDD's. And if so, how can I use the old drive as slave without reformatting the entire drive to save all my files.

Solution

You really need to delete all partitions, except for that D partition. Which may have a different drive letter after this process.
Then, you can merge it all into one big space.

As always, have a good backup of all that data in the D partition before you start messing with it.

Yes, you can do that. Having that second OS is pretty useless, though. It's just in there taking up space.
And I have seen cases where the system booted up into the old OS on the old drive, and the user didn't really know it had done so or why.

If you do decide to do this, disconnect the old drive while you do the install on the new one.

Ah, thanks for the info~ :D

And to add: My old HDD is partitioned into two drives, both C and D... C has my old OS, can I just delete C's contents so as to avoid the risk of the PC booting the Old OS?
