Lag, then 60fps, then more lag, then more 60 FPS?

Right so I regularly play Fortnite on my laptop and it runs smoothly for the most part almost always EXCEPT for the first 10-20 minutes after I open the game. Let me clarify. While it’s plugged in, the game runs with the highest graphics at 20-30 FPS which I can’t stand. When I disconnect the laptop from its charger, the game runs at 60-70 FPS, then drops to about 5 FPS for approx. 5 seconds before it instantly starts running at 60 FPS again. It will alternate like this indefinitely. It’s most likely because of the power settings because once I plug it back in, then quickly put the computer to sleep and wake it up, SOMETIMES it will run at 70+ FPS for the rest of the game. Other times, it will run at 70, then revert back to the alternation of fast/slow. I know my computer can handle the game’s graphics because I monitor the cpu and gpu temps which never run above 160 F and even lower with my fans turned on. I just need someone to tell me exactly what I need to do to have the game run nicely without these complications. I’ve tried everything from changing the NVIDIA settings, overclocking, and changing power settings but this keeps happening. What should I do?

Idk which specs I need to say so here’s all I can remember:

CPU: Intel i7 8th Gen
GPU: GTX 1050 4GB
RAM: 8 GB
Storage: 512 GB

This happens to me too, after the first game it usually clears up. I'd think it's loading the map and shaders or something.
