Hi guys i have dell 7910 work station this machine will be used for color grading with resolve with. Right now i have 2tb two hard drives in software raid but i am getting meh disk speeds WRITE 246 READ 250. I primarily work with 2.5k raw files but soon will graduate to 4k files I have one gtx 1080ti 11 gb and another one on the way with 32gb memory and 2x xeon cpu 2.4ghz.

My workstation has on board SAS raid controller now what i have understood is that i can only use dell certified SAS hard drives i have found 2 of them on ebay 3TB 7.2K SAS Hard Drive 3.5'' DELL SERVER so buying two that are 6 tb each will this give me better speeds?

Or stay away from dell HD and purchase raid card like New LSI 9260-8i 256MB SAS SATA 8-port PCI-E 6Gb RAID Controller Card with external raid box like TowerRAID TR5M6GNC - 5 Bay eSATA 6G Port Multiplier JBOD Tower

Other option is HighPoint RocketStor 6414TS - 4-Bay Q-SATA Turbo RAID Tower Enclosure this is combo with raid card Link https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816115185&cm_re=sas_enclosure-_-16-115-185-_-Product

What do you guys recommend here thank you for your time and help

Both of the links of the raid is considering for home use. Those are not HW RAID. Meaning all the parity calcualtion has to resource to system CPU, while the requirement of the calculation may be minimal due to only four HDD, but the IRQs of that HDD sending is the killer. It slows down everything, where your color grading with resolve is a CPU intense these is not recommend

Get the hardware RAID like
