Adding another same Ram stick to a single ram

Hello,

Will my single ram (Crucial Ballistix 16gb ddr4-2666) work like ram kits do(16x2) if I buy exactly the same ram? My brother told me to buy one 16 gb ram stick and after some time another one of these. I told him that it might not work when u buy another one later and not in kit. Is my brother right?

It's best to buy matched pairs of RAM. It's entirely possible for RAM (from same manufacturer / model) to not work if it is not bought as a matched pair.

With that being said, I have often used similar RAM's together (even different manufacturers) but there is no guarantee. Play it safe, buy all your RAM together

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. No memory manufacturer, including Crucial, will guarantee such combinations to be compatible.
