Have to replace low cyan cartridge in order to print in black?

Lots of vendors lock you out of printing B&W with an empty color cartridge; unforuntately, there's little you can do about it.
Some mfr's even still use the color cartridges to make B&W/Grayscale even if you tell it just to print in black and white.
