Can I use a MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB if I had a Nvidia GTX 970 GPU?

My 970 recently died and I'm searching for a new GPU, but I somehow can't find the name of my motherboard to check if the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB GPU fits my pc.

I thought maybe the 970 uses parts that require the 1060 to work aswell but I did not know any of that since I don't know much of hardware..

I'd like to thank you all in advance for responding!

Well if it supported a 970 it will almost certainly support a 1060. You can easily find out what motherboard you have with software like CPU-Z, hwinfo64, and many others. It should also be written somewhere on the mobo itself. As long as your motherboard isn't ancient it is not really relevant to what GPU's you can use with your system.
