Capped at 70-100 FPS CSGO

I play a lot of csgo and Fortnite
On both of these games I am capped at 70-100 FPS and can't get over that which is annoying as I want to buy a 144 Hz monitor but can't reach 144 FPS even though my pc should be good enough

Pc specs:
Cpu: i5-7500 3.4 GHz
GPU: Gtx 1060 06g 6gb dual
Motherboard: b250 S-ATA ATX
Ram: 8gb
Power supply: 700w
Hard drive: 1tb

If anyone can tell me anything as I have Googled a lot of this and nothing I have tried has worked

CPU usage on the individual cores and GPU usage while playing? Is it actually capped at 100fps or is your system just not capable of going over 100fps? If you don't know put all the settings on low and verify that framerate is not actually being capped by something.

You did not state what settings or resolution you are playing at. But I would think that system would do quite a bit better than that at 1080p max settings other than MSAA.

I play low setting 1920x1080 but my friend literally has the same settings as me and he gets stable 200-300 FPS. I don't know how to check all the other stuff you were on about either
