I have a very new (3 weeks) iBuypower i7 8th Gen 8700 16th ddr4 Nvidia 1070ti and I just bought a Thermaltake cl-p021 CA12BU-A hydraulic Riing heat sync and installed it and now my computer won't turn on. GPS indicator light is on showing I have power, but the computer won't turn on. I have triple checked cabling, for excessive thermal paste, and I even tried hoozing up the old cooler and it didn't work either. To my knowledge non of the pins in the CPU look bent either. Any help would be very much appreciated! Edit: It may be helpful to include that in adding the new cooler I had to take the original back plate off, in doing so this made the mechanism mounting the processor come off and so the processor did lose contact with the motherboard (why I included the fact that the pins don't look bent) for a bit. I do now have that remounted to keep the processor in place, I just took apart the back plate so the part that was in the way of the new back plate is no longer there, but the piece that holds the processor in place is now back where it was if that makes sense.

Solution
I suggest you closely inspect the CPU and CPU socket for damages.
The CPU metal retention bracket could be bent and the CPU might no make proper contact with pins in the socket.

Peter, they did do a great job with it and I hope so as well, I did buy an extra warranty from newegg for it as well. My CPU has been running a bit hot during some of it's use and so I was trying to take extra precautions to keep it lasting for a long time. Not really a solution but thank you for your concern!

I checked all the sides of it and I didn't see any rubbing, if the site allows for it I'll post some pictures after work tonight. The CPU was hitting 61°C during the game that I play the most. I know it can handle that high of a temperature but I wanted to keep it a bit lower than that.

I can tonight after I get off of work, I did try plugging it back in instead of the other fan, but that still didn't work. I will unmount the old one and remount the new one and give that a try when I get home and will give an update then. Thanks for the help Peter.

When you say "high temperature" I was expecting above 85°C.
A 6 core / 12 threads CPU with a 100°C Junction Temperature, hitting 61°C while gaming is the perfect scenario.

What do you mean by "the processor did lose contact with the motherboard"? Can you explain
The CPU was installed on the socket while removing/installing the back plate?
Did the CPU socket moved?

Yeah I should have been more specific with the temp, sorry! And I mean when I removed the back plate holding the case that holds the processor in place came off as well as it was all connected as one piece in the back. The back plate had the part that the case holding the processor screwed into. So when I initially tried to put the new cooler in with the thermal paste and I didn't get it quite right, it came off with the cooler via the thermal paste. None of the pins look bent or damaged, it just came off because I didn't initially realize that metal piece held in the processor (my first time working with a desktop computer hands on). I did figure that out and put it back though as I said. The CPU socket itself didn't move though, just the processor "chip" itself. Sorry if I'm not using the right terminology I'm trying my best to explain the situation! Thank you for the quick responses!

I will give that a close check as well. I did check to make sure the pins weren't bent at the contact point but when I try Peter's suggestion I'll check that too!
