Hello Everyone!

So i have a 1TB Blue drive as my boot drive (Windows 7) on the Gigabyte h110sm2 Motherboard .
I wanted to try windows 10 (Not Activated) , but didn't wanted to wipe of my windows 7 . If i didn't liked the windows 10 i want to switch back to windows 10.

I have a Seagate barracuda 320gb drive lying around , can i install windows 10 on that and use it with the motherboard and if i didn't liked the Windows 10 , will i be able to just unplug that drive and again switch back to my Windows 7 drive and connect that , without having re-install the Windows 7 on the WD Blue as i have changed the OS with board to 7 from 10? Or i will have to re-install the windows 7 again ?

Thanks in advance

Sure can. Just to be safe. Leave the Windows 7 drive unplugged during the install. Then you can plug it back in. Switch back and forth. Whatever you want.

Also when Windows 10 asks for your product key. You can just reuse your Windows 7 key since it is the same computer. It should accept the Windows 7 key and activate when connected to the internet. I hope you didn't waste money and buy Windows 10. 10 still activates just fine on 7 keys.

I would suggest during this trial period. You leave the Windows 7 drive unplugged and use Windows 10 exclusively for 60 days. So, that you get used to the differences. Rather than just have a knee jerk reaction of not liking it because it is different.

so i tried installing win 7 on my already win 7 drive just to check that if i can install it by myself , mid way the setup closed , it was all gone bonkers on me , the system wasn't starting only , and if it was starting , it was constantly getting rebooted , then my other 2 drivers werent detected , it was all a mess , till i was able to start the pc by re arranging the sata cables on the board and the drives then did a system restore of 4-5 days back , then it was cool , played for 3-4 hours straight .

now question is i am gonna install windows 10 today on a fresh formatted drive with unplugiing rest of the drives i am gonna use the drive for 9-10 days to check whether i am happy with windows 10 or not then if not i just need to unplug this and plug back the windows 7 drive ?

thanks & Regards

Mate , I was not able to boot in the system unless i unplugged the stat cables , swapped with one another and re arranged the slots on the motherboard then my other 2 drives other than OS drive were not displayed. A system restore helped me .
