On my Win7 notebook I'm trying to use Win Media Player 12 to 'cast' (play audio) to an Android phone running BubbleUPNP.
I can wifi connect my notebook to either a (newer) TP Link Archer C7 or a (older) DLink Dir625 = both are set up as Access Points.
The appln works perfectly when using the DLink but I'm unable to connect (WMP says Trying to Connect but but then times out) to BubbleUPNP when trying the TP Link AP.
I have UPNP and NAT enabled on the TPLink so can't figure out why it's not working - and yet it works well when I connect my notebook (running WMP) and Android phone (running BubbleUPNP to the DLink router...
I want to use the TPLink AP since it has better range around the house for casting the music to the Android 'player....
I have recently updated the TPLink firmware to the latest version...
Welcome all ideas and suggestions...
This is driving me crazy !!!

Solution
The TP Link has a feature called AP isolation. The idea is to prevent one WiFi client from speaking to any of the others (useful if you have random people connecting to your WiFi and want to protect your devices from attack). Check if that is turned on.

The other thing I would check is to make sure everything is on the same network. Connect to the DLink with your notebook and do "ipconfig". Note the IP address. Now connect ot eh TP Link and do "ipconfig" again. Note the IP address.
If you are on the same network then your IP addresses will be like 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.1.26 (might even be the same on both).
If you have 2 networks then the addresses will be like 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.5.26.
It is easy to talk to other devices...

It is easy to talk to other devices on your network. Talking to devices on another network is not so easy (for protection again).
