Ryzen iGPU alone or with 660ti 2GB

Is it worth me putting my Gigabyte GTX 660 to Wiindforce in with a Ryzen 3 2200G, or should i just put up with the Vega 8 and just flop the 660, putting the money towards a better dedicated GPU as and when i can afford to do so?

I cant get clear specs anywhere for the Vega, nor can i get a direct comparison, other than benchamark scores being only slightly worse than the 660. Being that the 660 is old, it seems as though it will be worse than an overclocked 2200g.. In theory, but real would gaming may tell a totally different story.

If the difference is going to be minimal, id rather sell my 660 sooner rather than later. So as to not have it depreciate further.

I have never used an APU myself and dont know of anybody who has positive things to say about one, so im pretty sure the GTX will still out perform the Ryzen in prwctice : But stranger things have happened...

No problem. With the Ryzen 8 you can expect near a 1030 GTX performance level. 660ti is still better than a 1050 as a baseline.

I have had the 660ti so long and it is so old, i assumed new get would be a deciding factor. plus finding ryzens iGPU full specs prooved difficult. I only ever read about those dream cards we all wish we could afford as mine function perfect fine

Seems like all AMD state on the specs page is

Graphics Frequency: 1100 MHz
Graphics Model: Radeon™ Vega 8 Graphics
Graphics Core Count: 8

Which does not really tell much, but there are lots of user benchmarks out there to gauge performance. I never met an iGPU I liked :)

The Ryzen iGPU is WAY better than any Intel integrated graphics.

It still falls a little short of the GT1030, but the purpose of the Ryzen iGPU is basically as a money saver. Okay performance without having to buy a discrete video card at all.

A GT1030 will equal or outperform the Ryzen iGPU, and the GTX 660 outperforms the GT 1030.

There were reviews here on Tom's Hardware that pitted the Ryzen 2200G and 2400G against a low end Intel CPU on its own, and the same Intel coupled with a GT 1030.

Certainly impressive for an integrated solution at a great price point but I love my big beefy cards ;)

Therin laid my confusion. Over all benchamark of th Vega 8 was 63 and 660ti was 66, which seemed a negligable difference. I aiomatically assumed that the 660 being four generstions older hand than the 10** series that a comparison there may be way out. Guess i should research a lot more before asking in futureproofing. :)
