Realtek Ethernet Adapter not showing in device manager

Hello,

Mobo is ASUS m5a97 r2.0 (1 year old maybe)

Basically I've been using a USB2.0 to Ethernet adapter for internet for a while and I recently beefed up my internet plan but my motherboard is kind of old and has a lot of things connected to USB. Maybe too many, which is causing them to disconnect and reconnect when I put too much strain on it. Like if I try streaming.

My ethernet port has not worked for a while. Does not show up in device manager, does not show any link lights when ethernet is plugged in. Tried installing a driver for it but got this error: "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable"

Researched some solutions and tried turning off, removing the ram, waiting 30 minutes and putting them back in. I wouldn't think the BIOS settings would be affecting the adapter and if it was that then that fix should've corrected it. I have an onboard ethernet adapter, not a PCI/PCIe one. I do have a PCI wireless adapter, an Archer T9E which shows up in the device manager and works correctly.

I don't think I have any realtek drivers on my computer but I don't even know how to check or where to start to fix this. Would it disable my ethernet adapter if I had a wireless adapter plugged into a PCI slot?

Thank you for the help, let me know if I can provide anything extra.

Solution
boot into safe mode see if port shows up. if not in the bios see if your ethernet port set to pex not standard. where it trying to boot from a network at post.

Other users have reported this problem. It seem to be connected to running Windows 10 on older motherboards. You say Realtek does not show up in "Device Manager > Network Adapters"? Do you have "Ethernet Controller" listed in a category called "Other devices"?

Yeah I noticed that but I couldn't find a solution for why it doesn't show up in device manager. That would mean something along the lines that there's just no drivers or recognition for it.

I made sure that there isn't any in other devices. It's not in network adapters, and there isn't an other device category either. Thanks again for the help, it is appreciated.

1. What do you see listed in "Network Connections"?
2. Have you tried disabling your PCI wireless adapter in Device Manager to see if any Network adapters are still listed?

I already did that, but shouldn't it say something else for the controller in device manager? Not just a standard one?

Anyway reinstalled the chipset drivers and still no luck in the network adapters.

I would try that but I'm lazy and it's probably just a faulty mobo. Anyway I just bought a PCI ethernet adapter lol. Really liking TP links products, anyway sorry that we didn't get to a formal resolution but I do appreciate the effort. Thank you again.

was $15 and solving this issue that might not even be solvable isn't worth any more time so might as well.
