My Xbox 360 wireless receiver was working fine for years until now. I formatted the pc and now when i plug it in a usb(tried both 2.0 and 3.0), it doesn't light up and nothing shows up in device manager. How can i fix that? I don't think the receiver died, the pc simply doesn't recognize it.

Solution
Try new batteries in the Xbox receiver.

Windows 10 on the pc? Try the built in troubleshooters.

Reliability History may be capturing some error codes or warnings. Check Reliability History as a starting point.

Download, reinstall, and reconfigure the drivers.

If possible try the receiver on another known working computer - a computer also set up for and using an identical receiver.

If possible borrow another known working Xbox receiver to test on your computer.

Narrow down the culprit.
