New system won't boot, can't even get the keyboard to light up

My son is putting together his first system and having problems with it. I had just completed my latest build when I ran into a compatibility issue that you were able to help me with (Motherboard needed a bios flash to recognize the Ryzen CPU, had to get the boot kit from AMD). I thought my son would have the same issue as he was using the same processor but his problem is more primary than mine. He can't even get his keyboard to light up let alone get a signal to his monitor. I'll list all the parts under this statement. He has already checked the ram, we even swapped out mine and it doesn't have any effect, I know the ram is active as it lights up but still no signal to the keyboard.
His build:
Corsair case Spec-02
Asrock AB350 PRO4
Ryzen 5 2600X
FlareX DDR4-2400 8GB x 2
Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8GD

I'm concerned he has a bad mobo and want to get this resolved quickly before he runs out of time to return it. Thank you for all your consideration and help, Paul F. Billesbach

X470 boards are more premium than B450. If you want a x470, get this.

Work the list, and we will go on from there.

This had been going on for a couple days so yea, I pretty much went through that checklist, I'll have to ask my son about the standoffs as I think he said he had to put 1 in as the case didn't have 1 to match one of the mounting points on the board but I'm not sure he checked for any extra that may cause a problem.
Other than that we've checked the ram and power connections and header connections to the case.

He requested and received a RMA, I was told the better choice in mobo's would have been the X470 but now that I'm looking at the Asrock website there are multiple versions, does anyone know which model replaced the X370 Pro4?

X470 Pro4?:D

Hi, I have the same problem as your son, and I have the same motherboard, too. I just posted my own thread (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3766535/breadboarding.html). Since our motherboards and problems are the same, that makes me think the motherboard's at fault.

Well yea, that was my guess as well but visiting the Asrock website there appears to be 6 versions of the X470 but none are listed as Pro4. Was curious if anyone had any experience with the X470 series and which board most closely replicates the features of the X370 Pro4?

Honestly, I would go with the one that had all the features I needed. If it also had some 'wanted' features, then so much the better.
