I currently have a Pentium g3258 paired with a GTX 750ti, was planning to upgrade and was thinking of buying i5 4460 ~$160-$170 and GTX 1050ti at $220 max, or buy i3 8100 that costs $140, h360 mobo at $80, 8gb ddr4 2400mhz at $100 and buy the GTX1050ti a month or two after the purchase of the new coffeelake system.
Need suggestions on what to buy.

Dont' buy a new i5-4460. Buy a used i5-4590 or similar. Then you can get the 1050 Ti or 1060 3GB or RX 570/580.

That i5 4460 and 1050 Ti would cost you almost $400. That's too much for old tech.
I'd get the i3 8100 system you mentioned, use the 750 Ti with it until you can get your 1050 Ti.

Okay, but should i consider getting the ryzen 3 1200, b350 and OC with the stock cooler @ 3.8ghz it would cost less and it has a better upgrade path than the i3 8100. Would the performance be superior compared to the i3 8100? And ill still be getting the 8gb 2400 one stick would that make the amd am4 build slower or no difference? Edit: The ryzen 3 1200 build will cost $212, so just a $8 difference from the intel build.
